Mary Bode Byrd Acrylic / Mixed Media

In 2014, the Spruce Forest Artisan Village near Deep Creek Lake, MD, asked me to be a guest artist for a month. This opportunity created a platform for the County Fair Winners Collection, three paintings that have been important in my growth titled: Carrot Bunch, Beet and Radishes. Each painting is a garden item on a pedestal with joyous marking to celebrate winning at the county fair, and typical of my work, the acrylic paintings include hand altered papers, netting from the grocery store and pattern paper.  

I’m a graduate of Michigan State University, E.Lansing, MI with a BA in Art Practice, then designed cards and new marketing ideas at Hallmark Cards, Kansas City, MO. I moved to Washington, DC and sold commercial printing. Following that, I opened Mary Byrd Productions, Inc., and for over 30 years enjoyed the thrill of helping customers with visual communications.
