April Exhibit - My Favorite Things
Through May 1

Everyone has favorites. Artists tend to have many and favorites can lead to a lifetime of painting subjects. The artists at Gallery One are pleased to display some of their favorite themes. Gardens and flowers are stimulating in their beautifully colored masses and beckon artists to paint them.“Spring is coming, the sun is shining and flowers are blooming everywhere” is evident in Dianne Shearon’s watercolor, “You are my Sunshine”.

Joyce Condry does not have a green thumb and paints those she imagines blooming beautifully in her own garden. “Say it with Daisies” acrylic is a close up of her secret garden. “Gardening and painting gardens is a passion of mine”, says Jan Moffatt. “My acrylic painting "The Good Earth" was inspired by the Good Earth Organic Marketin Dagsboro. It was inspiring to wander through the garden surrounded by a riot of colors, bright zinnias, tall sunflowers, flowering herbs. I just had to paint it!”

Lesley McCaskill loves painting on location. “When the weather is warm enough, one of my favorite things is painting outdoors. I really experience the day.“Country Road”, watercolor, was painted on site. While painting I could hear voices from boats on the adjacent canal and the songs of the birds.  The weather was fresh and breezy.” One of Dale Sheldon’s favorite things is to watch shorebirds as they slowly walk up and down the surf and while listening to the rhythm of the waves as they rush to shore” “Egret”acrylic depicts the graceful and beautiful white egret standing with elegance at the water’s edge.

Laura Hickman loves light and travel. “I love traveling to new places and discovering the light that exists there.”"Light- Split, Croatia", pastel shows the spectacular light on a cafe, bouncing off the sea and the shiny white granite that covers the ground.

Pears have been favored and painted endlessly by artists. “Exploring fruit in my paintings this past winter coincided with holiday festivities. Pears were plentiful and became the subject of my paintings and our salads." “Leaning Pears” oil by Mary Beth Patterson portrays her perfect pears found atlocal “Lloyd’s Market”.
